How often do you hear the phrase “NUS… it’s just a discount card”?
I’m not going to open that particular Pandora’s Box of lethargic worms – we could debate the pros and cons of NUS membership ad infinitum (watch out for the RUSU referendum next academic year) – but there is a commonly held misconception that the sole / primary use for NUS is to get cheap discounts in shops and online.
But if we embrace this philosophy for a moment, just what discounts are available with your NUS Extra card? I didn’t know the answer to this aside from the obvious McDonald’s free cheeseburger/McFlurry which is pretty much all I use my card for…
But boy have I missed out! There are SO many discounts available through just using your NUS Extra card… who’d have known! I could have saved bloody hundreds over the past few years and, if I’m missing out as a Sabb who supposedly knows all this, what savings could a typical student make?

Or you know, get your student’s Union to save a fortune by not affiliating and invest that money in decent student services?
Like I said, not opening that particular Pandora’s Box… ^^
